My father taught me how to tie a tie today.
He’d never mentioned it before, but he bumped into me as I was buttoning up a new white Oxford shirt, looked me up and down, and proclaimed gruffly that he ought to teach me how ties “worked and stuff”.
We don’t talk much about personal things, but I’ve never felt quite so understood or validated by him in my life.
I had no idea he knew me that well. :>
